However, today we will talk about how to maintain and clean good quality military boots so that your best allies continue to accompany you on every mountain climb, river, desert and combat.
Before we start, we know that one of the problems that usually arise when cleaning leather boots is that we always end up getting more stains than we would like. For this reason, we recommend you look for an old newspaper where you can place your boots and clean them. Likewise, we suggest you insert one hand over a boot and clean it with the other hand, for greater comfort. For this we need some tools such as: brushes, sponges, shoe polish and a dry cloth.
The first step is to remove dirt and soil from the boots with a small brush moistened with water that can remove all the small ashes from the ground, brushing the surface gently, avoid rubbing the boot too hard because you could mistreat its texture and color. After this we must moisturize them, you can use a bit of glycerin soap to restore the shine. It is important to mention that oily polishes cannot be used and may cause the coating to peel off. Then you can use a sponge with some water and remove the excess soap. Let the boot dry overnight in a place where there is no humidity. Avoid exposing the boot to the sun or a source of intense heat because it will damage the leather. After all this cleaning process they are ready to be polished, you must apply a high quality polish or shoe polish on the upper part of the boots. Finally polish it with a clean and dry cloth.
The leather of the boot is a very delicate tissue and, as such, it is essential that we clean and care for it properly. In this sense, the most important thing is to keep the leather hydrated. For this reason, we recommend carrying out this process approximately every two weeks, do not wait for the boots to crack!
